Gabrielle & Mike, the Inn at Erlowest, Lake George, NY
What an incredible time we had with Gabrielle & Mike on their wedding day! All the positive adjectives apply, so forgive me if I seem overly enthusiastic about this one. The Wedding Party, families, and friends were all fun to work with and helped us out where needed, but as always, it all comes down to an amazing bride and groom. Check…got that covered!
From their emotional 1st Look through all the portraits and group photos, we felt like we were working with experienced models–every time we had an idea, Gabrielle would do something that made it even better, and Mike was always right there with his quiet good looks…what an awesome couple they make.
Our wedding days are always best when the whole team of vendors is top notch, and this one was definitely a great example of that. Surroundings Floral Design, Lipstick n Lashes, the Metropolitan Players band, and of course, this amazing venue…the Inn at Erlowest, all contributed to the perfection that was this day.
All our best wishes to Gabrielle & Mike as they begin their married life together.
Vicky & Matt at the Canfield Casino, Saratoga Springs, NY
Wow…what a fun day this was! The groom’s family is Irish, and it was St. Patrick’s Day, so I guess that was to be expected, right? But even beyond that, Vicky & Matt’s wedding was a blast…just a great group of people to spend the day with and capture awesome memories.
We started the day at Union Gables Inn in Saratoga Springs–it’s always fun to shoot the getting-ready in a location with so much vibe. Cool place. Then, the ceremony was at St. Mary’s in Ballston Spa. It had been a while since we shot in this beautiful church, so it was nice to be reminded…and it looks awesome in the photos! Then it was on to the Hall of Springs for Wedding Party photos and some nice portraits of Vicky & Matt. I’ll take this opportunity to give both the bride and groom some big props here–for Vicky, especially, it was just plain too cold to be outside without a coat, but both she and Matt were troupers and hung right in there until we had all the photos completed. Impressive, guys! 🙂 After leaving the Hall of Springs, we headed to Congress Park and the truly beautiful Canfield Casino. The Casino is my personal favorite of all the awesome Saratoga wedding venues–the warmth and the unique style really do it for me. And it’s so cool being right ion the middle of the park…hard to beat.
The Mazzone Catering crew was amazing, as they always are. Same for DJ Vinny Vin of Non-Stop Music…definitely one of the best around. Credit also goes out to Felthousen’s Florist, Allegria Bridal (@allegriaboston) for Vicky’s smashing dress, to Jenny Yoo (@jennyyoonyc) and BHLDN (@bhldn) for those awesome bridesmaids’ dresses, and Dylan Perrillo (@dylan.perrillo.orchestra) for the really cool, fun Cocktail Hour music.
But as I always say, it’s all about the people, way more than the locations (though that helps, too!), and Vicky & Matt are an awesome couple who put on a simply beautiful wedding. Our best wishes for a lifetime of happiness!
Katie & Jeff, St. Agnes RC Church and Lake Placid Lodge, Lake Placid, NY
After you’ve written intros for a couple of hundred wedding blog posts, it can be a challenge coming up with new things to say and new ways to describe the amazing events we’re so honored to document in photographs. Every wedding and every couple and every venue…so different, yet so fantastic, in so many ways. My first emails and conversations with Katie made me fully aware that this was going to be another great day in my life as a wedding photographer, and that turned out to be so incredibly right on.
My crew (my amazing second photographer Lauren Lucente and our assistant Melissa) and I hadn’t met Katie & Jeff in person, but on walking into the Whiteface Suite at Lake Placid Lodge, I knew that all my hopes for the day would come true. Katie is as warm and fun and smart and all-around wonderful as anybody you’ll meet, and she and Jeff crack each other up continually. A photographer who wants his bride and groom just to listen and do what he or she says will soon discover that Katie & Jeff’s natural interaction with each other gets waaay better results. They’re both amazing to be around, and the bare minimum of direction is all that’s needed. Awesome, if you ask me!
I think you’ll see what I’m talking about in the photos below, and I don’t feel that adding a description of the day will add anything–if you’re still reading this, I’m sure you just want to see how we told Katie & Jeff’s wedding story in photos. Hope you enjoy it! And all our very best to Katie & Jeff–wishing you a lifetime of laughs and happiness.
Where can I even begin about this awesome couple and their incredible Saratoga wedding day? I’ve known Brittany’s family for years, and love them all, so I knew this was going to be a great day. But you never really know how great it will be until the day arrives and you get down to business.
So first, let me take you back to Brittany & Josh’s NYC engagement session from last year. Click here for a reminder of what a great shoot we had. This was the first time I really had the opportunity to spend time with Josh, and it was great getting to know him. All the women in Brittany’s family have big personalities, and while Josh is quieter, he definitely holds his own with the well-timed comment here and there.
The wedding day was pretty chilly, but wasn’t too crazy. (Could it be that my parka, hat, and hand warmers helped???) We started out at the new Embassy Suites in Saratoga–turned out to be a great choice. The getting-ready photos (with the always fabulous Make Me Fabulous crew on hair and makeup duty) were super fun. Oh, and our good friend Al Woodard was shooting video, too…it’s always such a pleasure working with this true master of his craft. But…I will say, the fun really got started when we left the hotel, heading to the Avenue of the Pines for our bride and groom’s First Look. Oh. Yes. I always remind our couples to live in the moment, especially in this part of the day, but I can say that purely from my perspective as a photographer, Brittany and Josh slayed this thing! To me, the best people photos are often about real moments shared, and this was a truly great moment in their day.
From there, we moved on to portraits in the Saratoga Spa State Park, and more fun when we added in Brittany & Josh’s really cool wedding party. From the arches at the Hall of Springs, we headed over to Saratoga National, and we were lucky enough to have weather that allowed us to do more bride and groom portraits out on the golf course. I always say that I’m not much of a fan of shooting on golf courses, but SNGC has the best locations for photos of any course I’ve seen…and you’d never know you were anywhere near golfers. The beautiful ceremony, held in the main lobby area of the clubhouse, was performed perfectly by Josh’s cousin Anne…it’s always such a nice touch when it can be as personal as this one was. Cocktails, amazing Mazzone hors d’oeuvres, some truly touching speeches by Brittany’s dad John and sister Nicole, and Josh’s brother Jake, then dinner, dancing (did I mention the talented DJ Paul Malo was on hand to keep people moving???)…and what???…our day was over?
We had a truly great time working with Brittany & Josh and their families and friends. This is an awesome couple, and we sincerely wish them all the best for a lifetime of happiness together. Hope you all enjoy our story of their day.
